“The distinguished location of UMBC has advantages in conducting research projects with both theoretical depth and strong practical impacts. To my benefit, UMBC is close to Johns Hopkins Medicine (JHM) and the internship experience I had there gave me a chance to include an external member in my dissertation committee for the aim of creating collaboration. Plus, I’ve been able to tap into UMBC’s travel/research funds to help further support my research.”

“I was so happy when I received the #YouAreWelcomeHere scholarship because it meant UMBC accepted the kind of person I am. This spring I was able to work on campus helping other international and transfer students know they are welcome here, too.”
